Off Seine -Floating Hotel in Paris
When you travel how do you decide where to stay? Is it based on budget, location, facilities, decor or overall experience? I love finding unique places to stay when traveling and I recently had an opportunity to experience one of Europe’s most unique hotels located in Paris!
“I want a 6 month vacation twice a year!!”
The hotel is called OFF Seine Paris, which is the first hotel and bar on water in Paris. It is in fact a floating hotel on the river Seine, which offers a wonderful view of the city and river. I was travelling solo for a few nights and really wanted to make the most of my short stay in Paris, this hotel certainly raised an eyebrow and had me curious. The website made it seem like a fun place to stay for solo travelers with the added bonus of having a unique experience and a touch of luxury! (I’m always a sucker for great marketing!) here is what you can expect from the off seine pars hotel …
Located in the 13th Arrondissement, this is an unusual hotel with a modern and chic interior designed by Gerard Ronzatti. It utilizes the play of light and reflections from the water to make the ambience and setting change throughout the day. Since the hotel is directly on the water you can expect to walk from the street level down quite a few stairs to access the hotel. Not the most ideal for seniors, adults with young children, anyone with mobility issues or those who don’t pack light. However, it is conveniently located across from Gare d'Austerlitz train station and away from the hectic crowds / noisy streets of Paris.
The rooms are aptly designed to offer a boat cabin aesthetic with very modern touches. They all come with air conditioning, free WiFi, a flat screen TV with international channels, a mini bar and personal safe and within the suites you will also find a desk and seating area. If your view is overlooking the river you can expect the occasional tourist boat to pass by with passengers waving at you while in your room. Since the hotel is on water you can also expect to feel the gentle motion of the water. Here is a video looking out a room window – 92ec62a1a7da4887902dafae4dc174b3
Aside from the accommodations, the hotel has a cute cafe and bar, which appear to always have a mix of guests and curious tourists enjoying the experience. a buffet breakfast is available each morning from 7am through to 11am with a wide variety of sweet and savoury products such as bread, pastries, cheeses, hot beverages, fruit juices, fresh fruit and much more. The bar is open from 6pm through to midnight and provides a variety of different drinks including very tasty cocktails. In between the cafe and bar is a mermaid infinity pool providing the illusion of swimming in the river. the floating swan has become insta-famous attracting global travelers to enjoy the ambiance and happens to be a great conversation starter among patrons.
this unique hotel experience is a must for anyone traveling solo or with a companion through paris.
